Trump’s Attorney Drops Libel Lawsuits?

In a surprise move, President Trump’s personal lawyer. Michael Cohen dropped his libel lawsuits against Buzzfeed and Fusion GPS. It is obvious that the FBI raids against Cohen’s offices, home, and hotel room have put the lawyer between a rock and a hard place. Cohen and his attorneys have been forced to abandon these lawsuits because of the actions of Special Counsel Robert Mueller. It is a tactical decision because the merits of the lawsuits were definitely in Cohen’s favor. Once more we see how the prosecutorial power of the government can be used to bulldoze the Constitutional rights of an ordinary citizen. Not to mention all the attacks on the Fort, Fifth, and Sixth Amendments that have occurred in this case.

But given the events that have unfolded, and the time, attention, and resources needed to prosecute these matters, we have dismissed the matters, despite their merits.”

Cohen abandoned the lawsuits after his office, home, and hotel room were raided by the FBI as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into his conduct as Trump’s “fix-it” man.

By dropping the lawsuits, Cohen could avoid being questioned by lawyers from Fusion GPS or being required to turn over evidence related to the case, which could weaken his defense in the criminal investigation…..
