The leak of this Google briefing reveals a Big Bother approach to how Google manages its search engine for the betterment of all. They just want us to keep a civil search in our hands. They will decide what is civil and what is not. The really troubling part of this briefing is what they see as a mandate for the high tech giants. They see it as their obligation to be the Good Censor and not expose us to controversial or hostile search results. But the 85-page briefing, titled “The Good Censor,” admits that Google and other tech platforms now “control the majority of online conversations” and have undertaken a “shift towards censorship” in response to unwelcome political events around the world.
