Newt Gingrich Blames Divisive Media for Earning the Label ‘Enemy of the People’

Former Speaker of The House Newt Gingrich pulled no punches about the media having earned the title of ‘enemy of the people’. That is the moniker that has been given to them by President Donald Trump. That and the constant reminder that they are the purveyors of Fake News just about each and every day. That puts the media at constant odds with the President and it is reflected in the 90%+ negative coverage that they have given him since before day one. By extension, every supporter of Donald Trump is also a victim of their enmity.

Gingrich made similar comments to TMZ. They come a day after several top Democrats and CNN, all of whom have been critical of Trump, were mailed explosive devices.

“Look, I don’t think there’s a direct relationship of any kind,” Gingrich said of Trump’s attacks on his critics, adding that the people who were targeted have “been very hostile to conservatism.”

On Wednesday, Gingrich said anyone behind the bomb threats should “be locked up for the longest possible time as a signal that we will not tolerate threats to anyone.”
